Robert A. Bruce

Mr. Bruce has over 25 years of diverse and unique professional experience. He was admitted to practice law in South Carolina in 1993. During his early legal career, he practiced law with a small firm focusing on personal injury, insurance defense, family law, criminal defense, and other civil matters.

Mr. Bruce previously served as a criminal prosecutor for two different prosecution offices prosecuting at the state court level, as well as having served as a municipal court prosecutor. During his days as a prosecutor, he successfully tried cases ranging from DUI to murder.

More recently, Mr. Bruce served as in-house counsel for an insurance company and its affiliated companies, during which time he managed corporate litigation nationally and provided legal counsel and guidance internally. He also served as Director of the Special Investigative Unit. He has significant regulatory compliance and implementation experience in the insurance industry, including anti-money laundering and OFAC. He understands the challenges businesses face day to day with the threat of litigation, seeking to maintain compliance with the various changing laws that impact your business, and managing risk, all while seeking to maintain profitability and avoid adverse governmental regulatory action.

Mr. Bruce was appointed by the then Governor of South Carolina and served as a Commissioner on the South Carolina State Ethics Commission. The State Ethics Commission is an agency of South Carolina state government responsible for enforcing the Ethics Reform Act of 1991 by ensuring compliance with the state's laws on financial disclosure, lobbyist principal disclosure and campaign disclosure and other state ethics requirements.
